Adults Cherry and Chocolate Smoothie (Dairy free)

On my quest to find new amazing dairy free recipes I decided to create an amazing adult dairy free cherry smoothie! I say adults because the opies cherries that I decided to use have been soaked in kirsch brandy, hence why it’s adults and naughty. Of course you can do this recipe with normal frozen cherries but this is a little more fun, even more so in the summer time when everyone is gathered around the BBQ!

For the recipe you’re going to want frozen cherries, my advice is buy some frozen cherries and add them in along with the normal cherries, that way you’re getting the full effect. Along with the other ingredients. You’re also going to want to add a little bit of ice so that it really freezes up.

The recipe is super easy and so tasty. The chocolate chips give that extra kick, you want to blend the chips for around 10-20 seconds so that you still have bits in the smoothie and that they’re not lost in the mixture. You might also get little bits of chocolate left at the end so you can scoop them out and enjoy!

If you don’t like bitterness in your drinks, consider adding a little sugar or honey to sweeten it up although this might not be for everyone. As I said before this recipe is dairy free so anyone can enjoy and if you want to keep the children happy do some without the added kirsch cherries.

Adults Cherry and Chocolate Smoothie (Dairy free)

This Adults Cherry and Chocolate Smoothie (Dairy free) is a nice variation on your traditional smoothie, with the help of Opies Kirsch Cherries, this certainly are for adults only!!
Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings 2 Servings

Ingredients

  • 2 Medium Frozen Bananas
  • 200g Opies Kirsch Cherries OR Frozen Cherries
  • 300 ml Almond Milk
  • 1 Pack Dark Chocolate Chips
  • Handful Ice
  • 1 tbsp Honey Optional

Instructions

  • Put your cherries, bananas and almond milk into the blender and blend until smooth.
  • Add the ice, chocolate chips and sweetener (honey) if you’re using it, mix and blend for a further 10-20 seconds. The honey is advised, otherwise the smoothie may be too bitter.
  • Serve and enjoy.

Personally I would advise using the honey in the smoothie, I have tried it a couple of ways and with the honey, it is so much nicer, otherwise it may be a little too bitter.
