A little tip with these air fryer cheeseburgers. You want to make sure they’re big enough so that when they’re cooked they don’t shrink. I’ve had this issue before and it sucks when the burger is half the size of the bun you’re using.

I’d also love to know if you did anything different with these burgers. Did you add some spice? I sometimes add paprika or chilli to give it a kick but that depends on who I’m cooking for. If I’m making these ninja air fryer burgers for my younger brother, I tend to make them a little milder.

Equipment

  • Ninja Foodi Air Fryer
  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

  • 4 Burger Rolls
  • 400 g 5% Minced Beef
  • 1/2 small Onion
  • 80 g Light Cheddar Cheese
  • Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Dried Italian Herbs
  • 1 Dash Hot Sauce Optional

Instructions

  • Cut the cheese into thin slices, enough to stack a couple on top of each other.
  • In a mixing bowl, add the lean beef mince, black pepper and herbs. Mix this all together until it is fully combined.
  • Once combined, split the mixer into 4 equal sizes.
  • Now take one of the balls of mince and take off ¼ of the mixture. Make the larger ball into a burger shape, slightly larger than your burger roll. Add 20g of cheese in the middle of the burger.
  • Now take the smaller piece of mince beef and make that into a smaller burger, big enough to cover the cheese.
  • Now squash the sides of the smaller burger into the main burger and make sure it is all sealed so the cheese can't escape.
  • Repeat this for the other 3 burgers.
  • Place them in the air fryer for 15 mins on 180°C/350°F.
  • While your burgers are cooking, peel and slice your onion and put it into a frying page with a little cooking spray and cook until the onions are golden.
  • Once the burgers are cooked, place them in the burger rolls, top them with the fried onions and enjoy. You can serve it with salad or air fryer chips.
