Welcome to my Hungry Savers Series, every single week I’m going to be bringing you another fantastic blogger, one whos as passionate about food and saving money in the kitchen as I am! I’ve asked them a series of questions that they’ve answered honestly. You can check out the 7 responses below and if you fancy checking them out click here! If you’re a blogger and want to take part in the Hungry Savers Series, then please get in touch. This weeks instalment is from Katy Kicker.

These are the questions asked:

Tell us about your blog

Katykicker was started in late 2014 when I wanted a way to share with people how I was making money online. Since then Katykicker has evolved into being all about my life as a wife, parent and money saver!

What supermarket do you prefer and why?

I absolutely love Aldi. It’s small, so I don’t spend hours there, and the prices are much more reasonable than other supermarkets. This means I can buy higher quality products, for a similar price to what I would pay for lower quality items elsewhere. Also I love the speedy checkout process. I can browse the store, do a weeks shop and be back in the car within 30 minutes!

3 money saving tips for the kitchen

  1. Meal plan for at least your dinner every single day.
  2. Love your leftovers. Use up old veggies or fruit in omelettes, smoothies or pasta sauces.
  3. Cook from scratch. I love to do this, when time allows, as not only does it save money but it is usually healthier too.

An expensive item you can’t live without in the kitchen and why?

Nutribullet! It makes super smooth smoothies and I can blitz up pasta sauces and lots more.

What is your favourite recipe?

It has to be my whole chicken in the slow cooker! It’s simple and the basis of many delicious dinners in our home. (Recipe –  https://katykicker.com/slow-cooker-roast-chicken/

What is your favourite kitchen gadget?

My food processor! It does so much and it makes grates, slicing, prepping and mixing much easier on my arthritic body!

Who or what inspired you to cook?

The need to save money inspired me to start cooking, to eat tasty dinners without having to get into debt. We had a really low income a few years back and I didn’t want to eat sausages or vegetable based dinners every night!
