Welcome to my Hungry Savers Series, every single week I’m going to be bringing you another fantastic blogger, one whos as passionate about food and saving money in the kitchen as I am! I’ve asked them a series of questions that they’ve answered honestly. You can check out the 7 responses below and if you fancy checking them out click here! If you’re a blogger and want to take part in the Hungry Savers Series, then please get in touch. This weeks instalment is my own Matt’s Cafe, as I think it is right to start it off as I mean to go on.

These are the questions asked:

Tell us about your blog

Well unlike the title, Matt’s Cafe is not a cafe or a place to eat, it is however, a place to get some recipes, find out some kitchen hints, tricks and tips and also some money saving tips for the kitchen.

What supermarket do you prefer and why?

Aldi – I love Aldi, I can get near enough anything that I want and the price is a faction of the major supermarkets. Not only is the price good, but the quality of the food is excellent, and in some cases rivals that of the other supermarkets.

3 money saving tips for the kitchen

Using Apps to save money on your shopping, meal planning and try the cheaper alternatives.

An expensive item you can’t live without in the kitchen and why?

I wouldn’t say expensive but it has to be my soup maker, I love it, it makes soup using fresh vegetables from start to finish in 21 minutes!!

What is your favourite recipe?

My favourite recipe would have to be a fakeaway recipe – Donner kebab.

What is your favourite kitchen gadget?

Simple, it is my slow cooker, with being really busy, working 2 jobs, my slow cooker is perfect to make sure that I have great food and not spend out on takeaways, which not only are expensive, but kill my waistline.

Who or what inspired you to cook?

For me, I would have to say that there were 2 people who inspired me to cook, Gordon Ramsey and Jamie Oliver. I loved watching them on TV, seeing what they would make and how they would do it. So much so, I have always thought about becoming a chef in a top restaurant, but never tried it, I cook at home and for family and friends. As well as creating great recipes for Matt’s Cafe.
