Slow Cooker Cottage Pie

When the winter nights draw in, there is nothing better than coming home to the aroma of a beautifly slow cooked cottage pie.

We all have busy lives, whether that is due to family, work, or something else, we want to eat well, but when the nights are coming in earlier, you don’t want to spend ages cooking or don’t want to spend much time cooking in general, this slow cooker recipe is certainly one that can meet your expectations.

I know when I finish work, I’m don’t always want to cook, so but setting up the slow cooker to make something delicious, it mean’s that I can have good food and not a takeaway.

Instructions
  1. Slice Onions and put into the slow cooker.
  2. Add the mince and break mince into small pieces so that it cooks evenly.
  3. Slice the mushrooms and add to the slow cooker.
  4. Add the frozen vegetables and crumble the stock cube over the mixture. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.
  5. Add 1/2 a cup of water to the slow cooker mixture, it doesn't matter if it is cold or hot water.
  6. Leave to cook.
  7. Peel and chop the potatoes
  8. Once the potatoes are cooked, drain from the water, put the potatoes back into the pan, mash, adding the milk and butter.
  9. Put the mince mixture into an oven proof dish, spoon on top the mashed potato and bake in the oven to get a nice golden top.
  10. Dish up and serve.

This is a great way to get a great home cooked meal that has been cooking all day, it only needs a little bit of time for you to do the mash and then you can sit down to a wholesome warming meal.
