Slimming World have been very busy behind the scenes, this weekend they have announced that there are some changes to our favourites including Muller Lights, tinned pasta and also instant mash. You may be thinking why the change, well Slimming World’s Team constantly reviews the healthy eating plans and they want to make sure that members are constantly enjoying the weight loss, so from time to time, some syn values do change. Members need to keep up to speed with this. These changes will show on the app and Slimming World website from Tuesday 18th September 2018.
But don’t panic, I want to tell you about the changes so you have it all in one place.
There has been some changes to our good old Muller Light Yogurts, they have always been syn free but now this has changed.
The biggest change is that the flavoured Muller Lights are now 1 Syn each. Danone is also the same, the flavoured Danone yogurts are now 1 syn each.
There are more and more plain yogurts which are now free, so check out this list:

Why has Slimming World Made These Changes?
A Slimming World spokesperson said: “Our nutrition team routinely review our Food Optimising eating plan to ensure it’s up to date, in line with the latest guidance, and to take into account feedback from our 5,000 Consultants and 900,000 Slimming World members.
“As part of this process, we’ve been looking at how to give our vegan members more choice, and we’re delighted that a number of vegan foods, including canned jackfruit and plain and unsmoked seitan, can now be enjoyed freely by slimmers following our plan”.
Most Slimming World members know that there are changes and it can have a serious change to the plan if they are not incorporated into what you are doing. So these changes are actually for the benefit of everyone who follows Slimming World.

What are the changes to Tinned Pasta on Slimming World?
I am sure we have all had the craving for tinned pasta on toast or on a jacket potato, you can still have this, but you need to remember now that tinned pasta holds a syn value. In all fairness, the syn value is not massive, BUT if can be the difference between a maintain or a loss.
Tinned pasta is now 0.5 syns per 100g.
You may be asking why, well the tinned pasta is not like a bowl of dried pasta, firstly tinned pasta doesn’t require much effort to eat, very little chewing and chewing is important for our brains to know we are eating and not over eating.
If you still want to have something syn free as an addition to your meals, baked beans are still syn free. Just remember beans, beans the magical fruit, the more you eat the more you toot!
I’m sure every Slimming World member has used instant mash and it has been great while it was syn free.
Since Slimming World completed their review, they have decided that instant mash is to have a syn value. All varieties of Instant mashed potato are 3.5 Syns per 100g.
I have used instant mash as a thickener, as mash itself and even as a pizza base, but it now needs to be taken into account if you are using it.
When will these new changes take place on Slimming World?
All the changes for the yogurts, cheese, instant mash and vegan products will all take effect from Tuesday 18th September 2018 and this will show on the Slimming World food search on the website and mobile app.
As there are some very big changes, towards the end of December, all existing and new members will get a new and updated 2019 Food Optimising Book.
Now that Slimming World has made these changes, does that change your meal plans? They way you cook or are you happy with these changes?
