So I love having a different lunch every day at work. I love baking don’t get me wrong but it’s nice when I’m at my day job and I can tuck into something amazing at work. This spicy roasted chickpea recipe is one of the many lunch box recipes that I’ve been working on.
Now, these chickpeas can be made however you want, they don’t have to be spicy however I’m calling it a spicy roasted chickpea recipe because I decided to make them spicy and they do have a kick to them so I want to make everyone aware of that, maybe I’ll make a normal roasted chickpea recipe as well if people love this one.
The thing I like about this spicy roasted chickpea recipe is that it’s super easy to make. You can do it in the oven like I have or you can do it in the air fryer, it doesn’t matter which you decide to do as long as you have something yummy to enjoy after!
It doesn’t matter what kind of chickpeas you get for the recipe. I used ones that I picked up in Aldi. It doesn’t matter how much they cost in my opinion, get them from Waitrose if you really want. I feel like the thing you need to really get right with this spicy roasted chickpea recipe are the spices!
Spicy Roasted Chickpea Recipe Tips
There aren’t loads you need to be aware of when making this spicy chickpea recipe. One thing I will say is to make sure you drain the chickpeas first. They need to be fully roasted in the oven so you want to make sure they’re not super wet when they go in the oven.
I also find that if you don’t drain the chickpeas first the oil and spices don’t stick to them and then you’re left with soggy chickpeas and not this amazing spicy roasted chickpea recipe! You want to also make sure that all the chickpeas are covered in spicy spices. If you want these to be a little less spicy, add less spice.
You also want to make sure you’re using a non-stick baking tray with these spicy chickpeas. As they dry out they’re more likely to stick to the tray so make sure you get a non-stick tray for the best results when making this spicy roasted chickpea recipe!
