My Kitchen Cupboard Essentials & Cooking Essentials

Have you ever looked in your kitchen cupboard and wondered why you have so much stuff that you never use? Well, I’m a bit like you. I’ve got so much in my cupboard it can sometimes be a little bit of a headache, well I’m here to talk about the various items I have in my cupboards and what recipes you might be able to use them with. It’s great to use up what you have in your cupboard and keep them stocked with the kitchen essentials that you need!

Kitchen Essentials – Food

Salt and Pepper

I hear loads of people say that they never use their salt and pepper but have loads of it, in fact, I got a salt and pepper set for Christmas and thought, what the heck do I need with more of this! Actually, I soon found that these two items are great cooking essentials that you need to have in your cupboard or spice rack.

Salt and pepper are great for flavouring dishes, especially if you’re on a diet like slimming world. They both bring out the flavours and you can even use salt in cakes such as the diet coke chocolate cake and you can always use salt and pepper when making a yummy dinner such as slimming world coke chicken!

Rice, Pasta, Spaghetti & Noodles

Does anyone else have an endless amount of pasta and rice laying about in their cupboards or is that just me? If you’re on any diet you’ll know you can’t eat too much of these foods because they’ll all add up eventually. However, using them in moderation is great. I love using my spaghetti when making an amazing Slimming World Syn Free Chicken Spaghetti Carbonara and I can’t get enough rice when I make my Slimming World Lemon Chicken Rice Traybake (Syn Free). So if you’re looking for some top-notch kitchen essentials, these are all foods you need to stock up on!

Passata, Chopped Tomatoes & Tomato Paste

I have so many jars and tins of this stuff it’s unreal, however, if you’re doing a lot of cooking in the kitchen you know they’re useful and it’s best to have some because they’re normally key ingredients that you need. One dish I need them for is the amazing slimming world BBQ pulled pork which is a firm favourite! That’s why these three are top contenders for my kitchen cupboard essentials!

Kitchen Essentials – Kitchen Utensils

I have loads of kitchen tools and various kitchen gadgets that I couldn’t live without. Everyone has something in their kitchen which makes life so much easier when preparing their favourite slimming world dish right? I thought that I’d let you in on some of the cooking tools that make cooking easier for me, who doesn’t love easy cooking?

Slow Cooker

I think everyone should have a slow cooker or a crockpot as some people call them. I couldn’t live without my slow cooker and I make so many recipes in them it’s unreal. Have you seen my slow cooker roast chicken which is all done in the slow cooker? Maybe you’ve tried the Slimming World Slow Cooker Diet Coke Gammon (2 syns) which is all done in the slow cooker? Either way, you need a slow cooker and I encourage you to get one if you don’t.

Electric Whisk

I’m forever using my electric whisk for various cake recipes, they make it all so much easier and you don’t have to hurt your hand mixing because it does all the work for you. If you’re looking for a kitchen essential you’ve found the right one! I used mine when I made my yummy Slimming World Chocolate Chip Banana Bread and it was a lifesaver! I’ve got a Morphy Richards handheld whisk and can’t recommend it enough!

Chopping Board

I literally use a chopping board with all my recipes for one reason or another. You need a good quality chopping board if you are going to be cooking, something that is going to last month after month when you’re making all your slimming world recipes! I got some really nice von chef chopping boards for Christmas and I suggest you check them out! They came in handy big time when I make my Slimming World Cumin Scented Falafels!

Soup Maker

I love my soup maker, I got one for Christmas and it’s been a huge help. I used it when I made my famous Syn Free Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato Soup and I’ve never looked back. If you’re fed up with making soup by hand and want something easier to help you out I’d suggest getting yourself a soup maker and cutting the cooking time in half.

The Importance of Stocked Cupboards

When it comes to cooking the last thing you want is to have a dinner or dessert planned out and then find you don’t have the right food or kitchen equipment needed to make the dish. When you go shopping next just make sure you’ve checked everything and if need be have some kitchen essentials on your shopping list. When it comes to cooking equipment or kitchen utensils if there’s anything you’re missing or something you’ve wanted for a long time, maybe add them onto your Christmas list or ask for a birthday gift, I’ve been after a coffee machine for a while now so expect to see a coffee machine review soon when I finally get one!

If there are any cooking equipment or kitchen essentials that you can’t cook without let me know in the comments, it’s always handy to know what people are using when making their slimming world meals so that even I can pick up some hints and tips along the way!
